Very recent research in the lab concentrates on the function of host- and virus-derived circular RNAs in viral pathogenesis. Sarnow's scientific service record spans education, research and industry. He has received numerous awards for his research, including from the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, a Faculty Research Award from the American Cancer Society, the Sidney Frank Research Prize, and Merit and Transformative Awards from the NIH.
